A fixed, photographed route: roof line, gutters, siding, every door and window, signs of entry, weather, or pests outside; every tap run and toilet flushed, under every sink, ceilings, water heater, sump pump, breaker panel, thermostat and heating-fuel level inside. Detector batteries and filters kept fresh.
Temperature sensors (the furnace-failure early warning), water-leak sensors, entry and motion sensors, an entry camera, and power-outage alerts — on a battery-backed cellular hub that keeps working after the home's internet is cancelled.
